NOTE***
Otis Frampton did not respond to an email sent asking him if he wanted to work on another “non-paying” gig.
He was busy with “life” and moving at the time, so I made my decision based on many personal things. I’m also not even sure Otis would have said “yes”.

Again, YouTube only allows 10minutes. Altho I signed up for a “directors” account, which I believe is for people posting more than 10 minutes? Oh, well…I just had to cut it into two parts for another 1.43 minutes!

Yes, I am tired. Yes, I need to lose weight! No need to tell me this!

“Paying My Debt”

I’ve been playing mental ping-pong with myself and find it very tiring, but as always I seem to do my best thinking in the shower.

Seems odd, but maybe it’s just the place that I don’t make a conscience effort to really think, it just happens?

The title of this post has “many” meanings so I’ll address them as well as I can.

First, I need to change my “Wednesday Nite Sketches” from Wednesday to Saturday AND Sunday for now. Perhaps permanently?

My wife, the lovely Bella has Wednesday and Thursday off from her work. I feel really bad that my “sketch” nite falls on a day she has off, and while I do usually have work during the day, I don’t really need to take more of the time we could spend together later that day or nite. She’s not complained one bit about it, but I feel pretty lousy sometimes getting to bed when she’s asleep and I didn’t get to spend any “real” time with her on an off day.

I’m sure you other married guys and girls can understand this?

I mean, it’s not like I can’t change my time to fit with her schedule, so that’s a big reason for the time move!

“Mahal Kita 4ever BBKO!”

She is going to visit her family in the Philippines starting at the end of November, 2010 and won’t be back until early-mid January 2011.

So time with her is very important to me.

“Late Commissions”

Only spending time on these each Saturday, is just not enough. I pick at them a bit more, since they are bigger and I work out different problems with them, I spend more time in the sketching phase usually, and the inking is slower also. So if I can use a bit of time during the week to pick at them, I think I can cut thru them a bit faster in the long run. Not that it’s been a ‘short run’ for those who have waited so long for them. Thanks again for the patience everyone. You really don’t know how much I appreciate it! Really…

“Moving Day”

So, this leaves me to move from Wednesday, to Saturday and Sunday!

That is the, hopefully “good” news to you all?

And it means an earlier start time, probably 10am on Saturday’s, and 11am on Sunday’s.

I’ll firm that up once I hear from everyone.

My first “new” scheduled drawing will be Brian “Batmite” Jones’, Mr. Freeze.

The date will be September 04, 2010, starting at 10am!

I will be recording these as usual, so if you can’t be there, you can see the work afterword.

Hopefully you all will agree?

If this will not work for you, PLEASE pull your drawing space now!

Just email me with your date and character and I’ll remove you.

“Know This Guy?”

Dave Ramsey: Financial Guru! LINK

I followed his plan some years ago.

It’s simple and most of all…it WORKS! If you stay with it. Slowly I slid back into my “lazy” way of handling my finances, and need a kick in the rear!

I’ve developed a bit much “financial debt” that I would like to shed ASAP, so I’m going back to the plan!

I’ve enrolled in his online “Total Money Makeover” to get my budget back in shape!

Those of you on my “E-List” have received a special offer e-mail for “members” only.

If my offer can fit into “your” budget, I appreciate it. If not, I understand that too. These are *very* rough times.

I had a “Wednesday Nite Sketch” pulled because a person lost their job.

That’s reality and I feel terrible for the person…but I understand “life happens” and they felt terrible that they had to pull their request.

But I’m more happy that it was pulled before I spent time doing it, and then they found out they needed the money for food, or housing, insurance, etc, and would feel the stress of trying to pay “me!”

This is yet another reason I am trying to wrap up “everything” by the end of the year!

A lot of us, like myself, the self-employed person, just don’t know where we might get work in the coming year, or how much. Not to mention “new” taxes on what we will be earning.

So…I want to get my “financial debt” paid and not have it to worry about paying each month.

I have enough bills that do that!

“Onward”

I’ve been blessed, or cursed, depending on the seat your in, to be saddled with some DC Licensing work this coming week that will take ALL week and probably into next Monday, the 30th of August, which is my “drop-dead-deadline” and I hope I don’t drop-dead, but know it’s going to be 14-16 hour work days until it’s done.

In all my work, I don’t cut corners…I spend the time the job needs. I like to think you all see the effort I put into the drawings I do for you, and I *really* appreciate the compliments when you all let me know you received your work and how much you like it. That, my friends, makes it all worthwhile to me!

The work ahead is also the reason I’m delaying the first new drawing until September 04, 2010.

I know I’ll be tired and need rest to do the job…it’s that simple.

“Finally”

I’ve had one meeting with my co-creator on the web comic you’ve heard me mention.

It’s a good start, but far from ready to begin.

We need more time to flesh things out.

That will be more work that I am looking forward to creating. I plan to make video blogs about it once I announce it.

Well, my friends, the alarm clock is set for 4:00am ET, so I can get an early start, which means bedtime comes early for me.

Thx for reading all this…it’s stuff I’ve needed to put in place and needed you to know also.

So there you have it…

I feel good about putting all this information out, so I can be at ease with myself and look in the mirror and know that I have dealt with a lot of issues that have been food for my “anxiety” the past few weeks!

[ Yes, I really do have "anxiety/panic disorder" diagnosed back in 1985, just after Secret-Wars. ]

For me, right now, it’s time to go spend some time with Bella, watch a movie or a TV show, and then get some shut-eye!

“Wednesday Missed”

Do to some scheduling conflicts, I had to cancel last nite’s Wednesday Nite Sketch.

Hopefully I might be able to do it this weekend?

In the meantime, last Saturday My wife, the lovely Bella and I headed over to the Orlando area to meet up with some friends.

We ate at Matthew’s, a GREAT steak house that will bring the elusive
Mike Zeck out of his cave for a melt in your mouth filet steak.

“They call me…

…Dr. Bong!”

I drew the sketch on Wednesday, but got very busy later that day, and decided that I would postpone the inking and coloring until Thursday.

‘Catching Up!’

Finally got caught up on the “freebie” sketch cards that go with the full-color “Wednesday Nite Sketches!”

I’ll be packaging up all of these with the full-color drawing today and shipping them out!

“Tippy Canoe!”

According to Wikipedia and under the name, correctly as: tippecanoe!

However, my “tippy canoe” is based on tipping the canoe that my lovely wife Bella and I took for a trip down the Tomoka River!

Yes, as we were shoving off, I lifted my right leg up to high to “get” into the canoe and we wound up making a splashing entry into the water at the gate!

We were not hurt, except for a cut I got on my big toe…remember to wear an old pair of sneakers next time…and finally on our second attempt launched a successful trip for about an hour.

It was a lot of fun, take a look on my Facebook and you’ll see I linked to some of Bella’s videos and pictures.

Next time, we will be a bit more “prepared!” …and I’ll be a bit more balanced!

“New Business Card!”

Changing over to the AT&T “U-Verse” means I’ll be needing a new email address, which also means, time to “update” by business cards.

While I find it hard to use only “one” image for the purpose, I played around with a design for the past two weeks.
Hat tip to Mike Zeck for the help and input! Mike came up with the “new” lower case ” jb” look on the card, and we discussed all other options on layout, color, etc.

I didn’t dare try to do any “line” work like Toppi, I decided to keep the graphic design and also keep the line work simple.

Another piece is now off my “late commission” list.
I’m making good progress.

Hopefully when I get caught up, I’ll be able to offer “full” comic cover art quality commissions and more!
