MegaCon 2012

Mega Con 2012

Seems like I’ve been trying to post about MegaCon for awhile and haven’t found the time to, so this morning I decided I better post before the show has arrived!

So, here’s what I have cooking for MegaCon 2012:

Sketches:

To simplify my life and yours, I am offering one size: 11″ x 14″ full-figure sketches at the price of $120.00. These will be limited to 5 or 6 my thinking is I won’t have the time to do more than that, since these will be full page images. Some backgrounds will probably be added at my discretion. My goal is to fill as much of the drawing area with art.

If you are reading this and wish to reserve a spot, please email me. You must be at the show, or have someone attending to pick up and pay for the sketch.

Book Signing:

This year I will have a “Hero Initiative” jar at the table. I ask that you please donate to this organization in exchange for my signing your books. I will probably have specific times listed at my table for signing. Donations will be given to the “Hero Initiative” people at the end of each day. Please pay forward what you can. It adds up and helps those in need.
I suggest one dollar per book, but ultimately the decision is yours.

Saturday Night “Fellowship Dinner”

I had planned on doing a Sunday morning “prayer breakfast” but after giving it more thot, the decision that perhaps trying to get people to show up somewhere early before the show opened on Sunday could be a problem.

So, I began to think about making a change, and came up with a Saturday nite fellowship dinner.

What it is:

Some of you know that on December 26th, 2010, I made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. I’ve had many changes in all areas of life last year. Many of them were not easy. Not all were good. However, the constant was my belief that God had a plan for me, my life and a path.

Part of that plan is sharing my faith with others.

So, I’m asking other Christians, those of you who might be sitting on the fence, or standing on other ground, to take Saturday nite and share testimonies and fellowship over dinner.

The place is yet to be decided, but right now my thinking is the “Golden Corral” nearby the convention might be a good place. They have the space if we get many people, and they have a variety of food, so everyone should be able to find something they like.

Since the show ends at 6pm on Saturday, I feel 7pm or 7:30pm should be a good time to meet.

If you are interested in attending this, please connect with me at the show Friday or Saturday.

This is not a MegaCon sponsored or endorsed event.

Hope to see you at the show if you’re attending!

Thx-

- John

The Batman, 10 Years Later

Doug Moench, Kelley Jones and myself worked on “Batman” projects back in the 90′s and to the end of the year 2000. It was a great ride, with two people I really enjoyed working with.

We did 3 ‘Elseworld’ Graphic Novels, and an ‘Elseworld’ series. Three years on the monthly “Batman” comic, beginning with issue #515.

It’s been 10 years since I’ve inked Kelley.

This was a lot of fun and it brought back a lot of memories.

Thanks to Ari for getting Kelley and I back together on something!

Building A New Site Theme

Well, I’ve been working with an application produced by iThemes.

It’s called Builder.

It allows you to “build” word press themes based on their “child themes” or, as I did, start construction my own theme, based on Builders “default” child theme, which is pretty much a blank slate.

I’ve always been interested in working in web design and code.

Builder takes almost all of the code away…unless you want to do some custom stuff, then a bit of coding goes along way.

I wanted and am trying to make this theme look like a comic art page on a drawing board. I’ve made progress but still have some things that are being problematic to me, and don’t know if I’ll be able to do.

Anyway, I just had to get this up, and sure new things will get added as I once again “build” a site to post on.

Commissions are being worked on, and will be posted as soon as completed.

Thx, all.
