A commission piece of Queen Amidala for my friend, John Higashi.

Queen Amidala
John will only be attending MegaCon on Friday, so he contacted me to set-up this piece that I could have ready for him to pick up.
This was created on Canson Mi-Teintes drawing paper. Assorted markers and colored pencils are used on the toned paper to achieve the desired look.
I will be doing this type of drawing at MegaCon. Size will be 11×17″ and I have a variety of paper colors to choose from.
Got to pack up the supplies and my personal things for the trip. I’ll be in Orlando tomorrow, March 10, a day before the show starts to visit and sign some books with my friend and long time collaborator Mike Zeck !
Thx-
- John

LJ: Thx! I’ll tell John H that…he might be lurking on my site tho, so he might read it here?
Mike: LOL…would be nice, but that’s not gonna happen!
Hope you all have a great weekend.
I’ll post an after show report as soon as I can when I’m back!

That is SWEET! Nice use of the paper!

Thx, Gene.
However, I usually let more of the paper work for me. This one was a special case due to the costuming. I had to break my own rule and add more color, etc, than normal.
Interesting, that the paper color is more of a “felt grey” but it scanned on the more “brownish” hue.

As you know, I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, but MAN is that nice!!
John
Thx, Z-
I learned a lot doing it. It was kinda a break-thru piece for me. As you know, I’ve worked on Canson Mi-Teintes paper in the past, and each one can present some problems.
This one worked by laying in the background first and pulling out the figure from that.
While doing this…I actually had some “light-bulb” moments. Odd…but things started becoming very clear on my approach.
…if that made any sense to anyone but me…
